Hot/Cold Delivery Temperature Feature

The Hot/Cold feature allows you to specify delivery temperature options for your menu items, giving you better control over how you manage heated and chilled delivered items. This feature applies only to orders that include delivery.

Overview

The Hot/Cold feature in Puree allows you to set delivery temperature options for your menu items. You can specify whether items should be delivered heated, chilled, or offer both options to your customers. This feature helps ensure food safety and customer satisfaction by clearly communicating temperature requirements throughout the ordering and delivery process.

Setting Up Delivery Temperature Options

Step 1: Access Menu Items

  1. Navigate to your Menu Items section from the main dashboard
  2. Select the item you want to configure for hot/cold delivery options
  3. Click Edit on the selected item

Step 2: Configure Delivery Temperature Options

  1. In the item editing screen, locate the Delivery Temperature Options section
  2. By default, this feature is set to Off - you must manually enable it for each item
  3. Choose from the following options:
    • Heated only - Item will only be delivered hot
    • Chilled only - Item will only be delivered cold
    • Both Heated and Chilled - Customer can choose (most common option)

Step 3: Save Your Changes

Click Save to apply the delivery temperature settings to your menu item.

Using Hot/Cold Options in Quotes

Adding Items with Temperature Options

  1. When creating or editing a quote, add your configured menu items as usual
  2. For items with delivery temperature options enabled, you’ll see a Delivery Temperature field
  3. This field is compulsory - you must select either “Delivered Heated” or “Delivered Chilled”
  4. Select the appropriate temperature option based on customer requirements

Temperature Display

Once saved, the temperature option will be displayed:

  • On quotes: “Delivered Heated” or “Delivered Chilled” appears after the item name
  • On dockets: Kitchen staff can see the temperature requirement
  • On reports: Temperature information is included in all relevant reports
  • On run sheets: Delivery staff can see temperature requirements for proper handling

Best Practices

  • Enable for appropriate items: Consider which items genuinely benefit from temperature control options
  • Use “Both” option: Most items work well with both heated and chilled options, giving customers flexibility
  • Clear communication: The temperature information helps ensure proper food handling throughout the delivery process
  • Kitchen coordination: Ensure kitchen staff understand the temperature requirements shown on dockets
